My Body Recomposition Journey

"Feel the fear and do it anyway". That's what I'm going to keep telling myself after I've clicked "publish" on this one.

I have gone through my fair share of passion projects in my time, from chasing the sub-3 marathon to curating thoughtful and relevant professional development at work, but this one feels different. It was a goal I had in the back of my mind for a long time but always blamed genetics, or my love for snacking and all things salty and crunchy, for preventing me from fully achieving. But with the right information and some patience, I was able to see a transformation I couldn't have predicted.

I wouldn't say that changing my body has necessarily been more rewarding than some of the other goals I've pursued, but what has excited me so much is that I feel like I'm now in a position to help others in their fitness and recomposition journeys. I don't know everything, I am still learning daily, and I will always have new goals to pursue (I am currently trying to add more muscle and strength, which requires me to continue to override the long-programmed pull to care about a lower number on the scale), but I am here to help you find the right motivation, strategies, tools (mental and physical) to set yourself up for success. I believe what sets my ability to support you apart from other coaches is my background in psychology; I have spent years coaching and instructing some of the most steadfast, and often unwilling, individuals to change their feelings of efficacy, to channel their inner strength and motivation, and to find the systems and routines that automate and make behavior change as plausible and enjoyable as possible for them in pursuit of big and intimidating goals. I don't do well with rigidity but I believe in the power of routine; I am an all-or-none kind of person (still working on that), but I know that flexibility and grace are essential to long-term, sustainable change. If you've failed before, it likely has nothing to do with your willpower. Perhaps instead it's the misinformation out there that is so hard to unlearn, or a mindset that has learned a lack of confidence from previous attempts. Maybe it's the accessibility to the right tools, or developing the routines that feel good for YOU and fit into YOUR life. That is why nothing that I do with you will ever be pre-packaged, and will instead be catered to your individual needs, wants, and lifestyle preferences.

I am going to stop now, because all I'm doing is delaying pasting the images below to illustrate my journey. So, if you are reluctant to jump on board or want to see what exactly I'm talking about, please take a look at my progress below.

What I was chasing for years through cardio I was able to achieve in ~5 months through resistance training and improvements in my nutrition. For me, it was all about the shift in mindset away from chasing loss to gaining and preserving muscle. And while I've fluctuated in weight throughout my 20s and 30s, this approach has allowed me to sustain my body composition for over a year now. I've had my fair share of "slip ups" (if you want to call it that-- or simply minor shifts in habits) this past year, but the increased lean mass has allowed me to get back on track much quicker and has kept my weight stable throughout the ebbs and flows of life (ex. holidays, winter, etc.)

I'm not sure how to conclude this, aside from the fact that everyone's journey is different, both in where it starts, how it evolves, and what the outcome may be. Regardless of where you are, I want to meet you there and start building a happier and stronger you. Whenever you're ready, I'm here for it.
